Coady Partnership Architects’ HQ for the Property Registration Authority in Ireland, has had its BREEAM ‘Excellent’ rating confirmed by the British Research Establishment. It is a sustainable solution designed to meet the client’s requirements for a building that is low cost in use and economical over its life cycle.
This 5,500m² building is naturally ventilated and lit, with most work spaces facing east or west. Excessive solar gain on all facades is controlled by the areas of glass provided and the characteristics of the glazing units.
It is a highly insulated and airtight building with efficient lighting and controls: rainwater is collected from roofs and used to flush toilets: conditioned air is delivered to the atrium and circulation areas: toilets have heat recovery ventilation; and the wood pellet fired heating system is carbon neutral.
The achievement of BREEAM ‘Excellent’ is the result of careful design and construction by the team, matched with constant assessment of detail and specification, and first class workmanship which was ensured through constant monitoring and testing of the work on site.
