The largest golf clubhouse on the Iberian Peninsula has recently opened its doors to the public. Developed by Oceânico Developments, the Amendoeira Golf Resort is located in the district of Silves (central Algarve) only 35 minutes from Faro Airport. Set in an area of outstanding natural beauty, it provides 4,000m² of outstanding luxurious facilities, and two new golf courses designed by Nick Faldo and Christy O’Conner Jr, two of the world’s most successful golfers.

Designed by NLA -Nuno Leónidas Architects, the clubhouse has majestic views of both courses, features a professional shop offering an extensive range of sport products, a green side bar and café, a spike bar, a restaurant and a banqueting room that can cater for up to 250 people as well as luxurious locker rooms. It also has an underground parking lot providing parking for 80 buggies.

The design is very much inspired by the rich Moorish heritage of this region, and this stunning and architecturally original resort features graceful arches, shaded tiled courtyards and wide terraces.

The exceptional high standard of the facilities as well as the magnificent range of luxury properties put this development at the top of the existing range of European golfing resorts, reinforcing Oceânico Group’s position as the leading developer of golfing resorts in Portugal.

The two new Amendoeira Golf Resort courses will quickly become recognised worldwide, and all golfers will want to play there at least once in their lifetime. Christy O’Conner Jr. said the resort will become the ‘crown jewel’ of an altogether extraordinarily popular golfing destination -the Algarve, the best place to be for this fantastic sport and his personal favourite destination.

The overall investment totals 446 million Euros, the gross construction area is 80,000m², and includes two vacation resorts of 268 villas and 208 apartments in total.

The next stage of development will be a five star hotel, with a SPA and a conference centre, and has also been designed by NLA -Nuno Leónidas Architects.
